Computing
Intent
- Offer a broad, balanced, rich and vibrant curriculum that provides challenging pathways to achievement for all learners, no matter their starting point.
- Enable children to develop the skills necessary to use a range of differing technologies
- Develop confidence in children to become creative and independent learners who are able to use technology in an effective way. Through their learning in Computing, children will find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information.
- Children will be able to use and understand the importance of using different technology safely and know how they can report any worries or concerns in order to remain safe online.
Implementation
- Coverage of key Computing skills will be used by teachers, building on from prior learning and develop progressively key skills and developing depth.
- The use of Project Evolve to ensure all strands of online safety are taught to children and assessed at the beginning and end of units to evaluate the impact.
- Use of various types of technology where possible and programs to support their skill development and opportunities for real-life applications (such as links with other subjects).
- With the use of ‘dig deeper’ recap questions, pupils revisit key concepts and develop better knowledge retrieval from previous units.
Impact
- All children make good progress in computing and with a spiral curriculum, whereby children know more and can remember more.
- Through their growing knowledge and understanding of computing, children will gain an appreciation of how to use technology safely and respectfully, promoting our key British Values.
- Children can use technology responsibly and know how to use technology safely.
- Pupil have a range of transferrable skills which equip them ready for computing in Key Stage Three and beyond (both in the classroom and wider world).
