Intent:
- All children given the opportunity to participate in a range of art experiences around different types of Art including Visual, Performing and Literary. This could be learning about different artists (past and present) techniques, styles, media and being given opportunities to develop performing arts.
- Children to be inspired by creative experiences.
- National Curriculum at least met.
- Art skills to be improved by working through a planned curriculum which is progressive through the years.
Implementation:
- The ‘Plan Bee’ Art curriculum, in line with the National Curriculum, has been adopted.
- Curriculum map shared with staff and discussed.
- Opportunities for cross-curricular art links made where possible
- Planning shows a development of skills. Subject leader to offer support for teachers in relation to specific art skills where necessary.
- Children learn and apply new vocabulary covered through different topics. (More opportunities for discussion)
- The importance of art is promoted within school including Arts Celebration weeks.
Impact:
- Children are inspired to take part in art activities and experiences.
- Children can talk about their art experiences and make links about the progress they have made in different areas.
- Children will achieve age related expectations in Art and Design at the end of their cohort year.
- Assessment of skills demonstrates progress.
