Our 50th Anniversary Celebrations
On the 9th November 1964, Abbey Primary School opened its doors to the new staff and children. It must have been exciting times as the Mossley Estate saw its second school open.
50 years on, we couldn't be there on the exact day (as it was a Sunday), but the Friday before and the Monday after, marked two days of special celebrations that highlighted how far the school has come and what it has achieved in 50 years.
Below are some of the things that staff, children, parents and former teachers took part in, including children's work from each class to go into a special time capsule, a 250 balloon release from each member of current staff and pupils, and a special assembly where 3 former headteacher and other ex-colleagues came back to see how the school has changed.
On Friday 7th November 2014, children ranging from reception to year 5 took part in Abbey Primary School's version of The X Factor. We had a range of judges giving their verdict on all the singing sensations and although hard to decide, the winner from KS1 was Demi-Leigh and joint winners from KS2 was Codey and Nina. Well done to everyone that took part and started off the weekend of 50th anniversary celebrations.
